Special Envoy of Chinese Government Zhang Yesui Visits Families of the Chinese Passengers on Board the Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight

On March 27, 2014, Zhang Yesui, Special Envoy of the Chinese government and Vice Foreign Minister, visited the families of the Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Zhang Yesui said that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government have been paying high attention to the incident since the Malaysia Airlines flight lost contact. General Secretary Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and other leaders of the party and the government have been very much worrying about the safety of the passengers including Chinese citizens aboard the flight, made quite a number of instructions urging all-out efforts for search and rescue operations, and personally coordinated with the state leaders of the countries concerned. Up till now, China has deployed 21 satellites, over 10 ships and vessels and dozens of aircrafts in the search and rescue operations, with only one goal of trying utmost for searching and rescuing the Chinese people that lost contact. We will never give up as long as there is any glimpse of hope.

Zhang Yesui said, the leaders of the party and the government have been keeping the families in their mind and cared about everybody all the time. Our government stands always with the families and feels empathy with your plight and sorrow. For the next step, we will spare no effort to urge the Malaysian side to coordinate with international efforts to carry on search and rescue and to further step up our own search efforts of the Chinese side. We will continue urging the Malaysian side to inform the families of relevant information and updates on the investigation of the incident in a timely and accurate manner and to provide good services to the families at the same time. The Chinese government will surely and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the families. Please set assured and take care.
