Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng Makes Urgent Appointment to Meet with Malaysian and Vietnamese Diplomatic Envoys in China

In the afternoon of March 8, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng, following the deployment of Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Joint Inter-Ministerial Mechanism meeting on the work of protecting the safety of overseas Chinese citizens, made an urgent appointment to meet with Malaysian Charge d'Affaires to China Bala Chandran Tharman and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyen Van Tho.

Xie said that China pays high attention to the safety of the plane and the passengers on board, and will make all-out efforts to assist the search and rescue work. Hope that Malaysia and Vietnam could make every effort to carry out the search and rescue, timely inform all updates to China and the families of the passengers, and provide the maximum convenience for possible emergency management and the follow-up work.

Malaysian and Vietnamese diplomatic envoys said that they are ready to cooperate closely with China to do their utmost in the search and rescue work.
