2014-02-21

On the afternoon of February 21, 2014, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Senegalese President Macky Sall at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang said that the current China-Senegal relations are developing smoothly. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping held a fruitful talk with President Macky Sall, and reached a consensus to construct a long-term friendly and cooperative partnership between China and Senegal. China is willing to promote political mutual trust, expand the cooperation with Senegal in trade and investment, infrastructure construction, intelligence, knowledge and other fields, so as to inject new vitality into the development of the China-Senegal relations and set a model for the relations and cooperation between China and West African countries.

Li Keqiang said that after a half century's development, the relationship and cooperation between China and Africa have formed a pattern of equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win advancement, and openness and inclusiveness, which is the common wealth for both sides. Under the new circumstances, China's comprehensively deepening reforms and further opening-up will bring new opportunities to China-Africa cooperation. China has high-quality, sophisticated and cost-effective technical equipments while African countries have advantages in market capability, labor cost, resources and other aspects. The two sides can engage in a better complementary cooperation. China will, as always, support Africa's efforts to develop independently and solve African problems independently, and is willing to provide any assistance within its reach for Africa's cause of poverty reduction, so as to promote Africa's peace, stability, development and prosperity.

Sall said that Senegal-China relations have achieved booming development over recent years. China's assistance has vigorously promoted Senegal's development and revitalization. Senegal hopes to further expand the cooperation with China in all fields and welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of Senegal-based major projects. Senegal is willing to make unremitting efforts in developing the Africa-China relationship.
