Yang Jiechi Meets with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns

  On January 22, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns in Beijing.

  Yang Jiechi said, China-US relations made important and positive progress last year, and faces new opportunities for development this year. Both sides should follow the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation, to properly manage differences, and to promote for new progress in building a new model of major-country relations between China and the US.

  William Burns said that the US is committed to developing positive and cooperative US-China relations, and is willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with China in bilateral and multilateral fields to jointly manage and control differences and to continue to promote the building of a new model of major-country relations.
