Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault of France

On 6 December 2013, Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault of France.

Zhang Dejiang said that China and France will soon embrace the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship. Both sides should take this opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and trust and to uplift the level of practical cooperation so as to jointly push for greater development of the new type of China-France comprehensive strategic partnership. In recent years, the NPC of China has conducted multi-level, wide-ranging exchanges and dialogue with the National Assembly and the Senate of France. It has enriched the contents of China-France relations and promoted the development of bilateral cooperation. Both sides should further keep close friendly exchanges, develop and improve the existing exchange mechanisms, continue carrying out regular exchanges and strengthen sharing of experience on democracy, legal system and state governance in a bid to create a sound legal environment for practical cooperation between the two countries.

Ayrault expressed that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of France-China diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations are facing important opportunities for development. The legislative bodies of the two countries enjoy very active exchanges and they should further strengthen exchanges to promote practical cooperation in all fields and to push forward France-China relations.
